Micronutrients
Micronutrients are necessary for optimal metabolic body functions such as energy production, muscle growth, and recovery, which are all important for sport performance. They are also natural adaptogens that support a reduction in inflammation. Micronutrients play an important role in energy metabolism, hemoglobin synthesis, maintenance of bone health, and stimulation of the immune system. Therefore, increasing the intake of micronutrients in my opinion is a requirement to support the building, repair, and maintenance of lean body mass in athletes.
Micronutrients to include in your diet
The vitamins and minerals that are particularly helpful for building a strong body include zinc, selenium, Omega-3s, calcium, potassium, biotin, magnesium, vitamins K, E, D, C and the B vitamins.
